I interviewed my mother, Vicki, who was in her 20s during the 80s. I asked her what she thought of the era.
Q: What do you remember most about the 80s?
V: Bright colours, checkered pants, partying, mopeds.
Q: What did the 80s mean to you?
V: Growing up, it was when i had my first child, so i needed to be a mother and bring him up.
Q: What was a significant part in the 80s that affected people in New Zealand?
V: The bombing and sinking of the Rainbow Warrior In the Auckland Harbour.
Q: Did you have a favorite item of clothing? What was it and why?
V: Yes, my checkered pants, they were so comfy and lots of people were wearing them in Australia at the time.
Q: What were you doing with your life for majority of the 80s?
V: Training to be a hairdresser, Living in Australia with my dad, Met my husband and being pregnant.
Q: Did you enjoy the 80s?

Rock Steady Crew B-Boy Battle in the movie, Beat Street.

This skate doesn’t have much to do with my theme, but the colours are similar to what was popular to wear back in the 80s.

This shelf i thought was good because of the uniqueness of it, very 80s.

Toys from the 80s. Lots of books and soft toys, multiple colours and hours of fun.

These two pieces are both observational drawings, the top a drawing in pencil, and the bottom in paint or indian ink. The top image looks like it has had some time to draw, but the bottom drawing looks quick and rough. Also it looks better in my eyes.

These drawings i found on the internet, just showing what my drawing was supposed to liik lioke, its alot cleaner than the lower drawing, and the top drawing is what 2-point perspective looks like.

I found both of these pieces on flickr, they both have the same idea as my piece, but are in colour, giving a deeper look into the image.
